If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Beware of the many scams that are all over the internet these days. The latest one is an email telling you to type in your username and password and hit a submit button or else lose your ICQ or Hotmail account. Guess what? If you hit submit, you just sent someone your username and password for your account. You probably will no longer get access to it as soon as they log in and change your password. They even design the fake page to look just like the real homepage for the service by using all the elements from the web site.
Beware of Email posing as a virus advisory. The latest fake advisory warns users of the file "jdbgmgr.exe," purportedly a virus that damages a victim's computer system two weeks after first infecting the PC. The hoax has been forwarded by users who believe they have been infected and need to tell other victims to clean out the virus. The file is a real file that Java components need to be able to run.
Bottom line: If you ever get an email and it tells you to send it out to as many people as possible, that should give you an immediate alert, that it is not on the up and up.
